Giving an Artist a Canvas

A road trip to Long Island from Philly was well worth the art.  My roomate Anomie Fatale's non-profit project titled "Sick & Sexy" was the initial reason we planned the trip...but we also accomplished a painting for a friend who lost the ability to create, a handful of snapshots for me to express my love of photography, a spread for Anomie's modeling and writing projects, and a chance for her and her boyfriend (my other roomate Jesse Draham) to share their original music. YES, a trip worth the ART!

Anomie describes her modelling "subject" Steve Catalli and what this particular photoshoot was about:
"Steve is a 26 year old graphic designer with Duchene's Muscular Dystrophy, an auto immune disorder that causes the break down of all of the muscle in the body. He lost the ability to use his hands a few years ago, and had to discontinue his love of drawing and painting. With a little help from friends and electrical tape, Steve was able to make his art again....on my body."

Above is the final product of Steve's on Anomie's back (tainted with a heart by moi). Since Steve was unable to move his hands he would command Anomie to move up and down, left and right as he wished to create "abstract" art. We were well aware that it would be too difficult to start off with a realistic painting, the focus was more on the idea of creating.
Personally, this project was a blast to me! Well, it wasn't just a "photoshoot" it was a day that i got to meet a friend that i had only conversed with via facebook chat.  Pretty sure this was a first for me....felt like a blind date would. Kinda nervous with excitement and wondering if ur silly facebook profile was a good ambassador of who you really are. Nothing like actually hearing someone's voice for the first time!!!
So to all that were involved in making this day happen, thank you! And a special shout out to Steve's mom for allowing us weirdos into her home and picking up some pizza :)  BTW, Anomie's full article about Steve plus many other "subjects" and her work are on its way. I will add a link when published.
