"The First Day" was written as Julia Othmer's response to the intense emotions felt on the night of 9/11. Through the years the song has evolved, through shared stories by friends and fans, into a constant memorial, played at almost every show, for everyone dealing with grief and loss.
In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, she is recording a version of “The First Day” that speaks to the life the song has taken on in live performances. We are also creating a music video to depict moments of all of the stories that have been shared.
